De este modo, las personas y los cristianos del Oriente podrán participar en las celebraciones del Tiempo de la Creación, del 1 de septiembre al 4 de octubre, como cada año. El tema de este año es «¿Una casa para todos? Renovando el Oikos de Dios».

Within the framework of the “Season of Creation” 2021 activities, the Middle East Council of Churches issued for the first time in the East this project through translating the project’s international booklet into Arabic. “The situation has been worsening ever since”, these are the words UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa Ted Chaiban used to describe the living conditions in Lebanon today. Ever since that tragic moment, at 6:07 pm, the Lebanese capital hit rock bottom and what’s left of this country is awaiting certain doom.

The new issue of the weekly newsletter Momentum prepared by the Communication and Public Relations Department of the Middle East Council of Churches, presents interviews and articles published in the special issue of "Al Muntada" magazine, issued on the first commemoration of the Beirut port explosion. You can find two exclusive interviews with HE Bishop Elias Audi and HE Archbishop Boulos Abdel Sater, about the Beirut blast disaster and the Church’s role in facing its repercussions and helping its affected people.

Una de las paradas de la bendita peregrinación del icono de la Sagrada Familia al Líbano fue la sede del Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio en Beirut, donde fue recibido por el Secretario General del Consejo, el Dr. Michel Abs, y el equipo del Consejo.
El icono estuvo acompañado por el Vicario Patriarcal Sirio-Católico de la Eparquía de Beirut y Jefe del Comité Organizador de las Visitas del Icono, emanado del comité de «Justicia y Paz», de Su Eminencia el Obispo Mathias Charles Mrad, y de la Coordinadora General del Comité Sra. Suzy Hajj.

Through relief work we are present, and through rehabilitation as well as through development action we nurse the wounds of our people and members of our community.

One of the stops of the blessed pilgrimage of the Holy Family Icon to Lebanon was the headquarters of the Middle East Council of Churches in Beirut, where it was received by the Council’s Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs and the Council's team.

The icon was accompanied by the Syriac Catholic Patriarchal Vicar of Eparchy of Beirut and Head of the organizing committee for the icon’s visits, emanating from the "Justice and Peace" committee, His Eminence Bishop Mathias Charles Mrad, and the General Coordinator of the committee Mrs. Suzy Hajj.

Nacida en el Líbano, viví los días dorados de los años 60 y principios de los 70, cuando el crecimiento económico estaba en su apogeo. La mano de obra y el dinero eran abundantes, la vida cultural estaba repleta de espectáculos artísticos y ricos, los teatros estaban llenos, las exposiciones de artistas de renombre eran el orgullo de los libaneses, los restaurantes estaban repletos de gente, las mesas abundaban con maravillosos y deliciosos mezzes innumerables, que atraían a turistas de todo el mundo.

Antes de la tarde del 4 de agosto, a las 6:07, el puerto de Beirut era considerado uno de los más importantes del Oriente Medio, y un respiro para el Líbano y sus países vecinos.
Antes de ese desafortunado séptimo minuto, la parroquia de San Antonio el Grande, situada frente al mar y vecina del Puerto, estaba envuelta de árboles, y su cúpula, un paso más cerca del cielo, anidaba pájaros.

Un llamamiento del Consejo de Iglesias del Oriente Medio para ayudar a los 45,000 beirutíes afectados

Hasta el día de hoy, nuestro mundo sigue siendo testigo de dolorosos acontecimientos y cambios estructurales económicos, sociales y políticos. Estos acontecimientos sólo afectan a las clases sociales más bajas, es decir, a lo que hoy en día es el 85% de los ciudadanos de los países que siguen enfrentándose a la crisis y a un continuo empeoramiento de las condiciones económicas, sociales y políticas.

Beirut, ciudad de la resurrección

Ha pasado un año y la tragedia de la explosión Beirut sigue creciendo, con más rabia y fuerza. Ningún recuerdo puede contener el dolor que causó, mientras que ningún tiempo podría hacerlo desaparecer. Desde el pasado mes de agosto, Beirut reza en nombre del Padre por cada hijo, hermano, hermana, madre o padre que fue a trabajar y nunca volvió. 216 víctimas en segundos. Miles de heridos, cientos de los cuales quedaron con discapacidades permanentes.

Ha pasado un año entero desde el desafortunado suceso, la masiva explosión del Puerto de Beirut, nuestra querida capital libanesa, el 4 de agosto de 2020, después de que se almacenaran allí productos químicos inflamables durante mucho tiempo sin ninguna precaución. La aterradora imagen que vimos por la televisión nos apretujó el corazón... En ese momento, lo consideramos una crisis y un incidente horribles que unirían a los pueblos y unificarían los corazones para hacer frente a este desastre con todas sus dimensiones humanitarias, sociales, económicas y vitales.

Another Thunderous And Violent Truth of Collective Culpability

Born in Lebanon, I had lived the golden days of 60’s and early 70’s when the economic growth was at its peak. Labor and money were abundant, cultural life was full of artistic and rich performances, theatres were full, exhibitions of renowned artists made the pride of the Lebanese, restaurants packed with people, tables abundant with marvelous and delicious countless mezzes, attracting tourist from around the world.
