The Feast of Saints Constantine and Helen at the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem
On Friday, May 20 / June 2, 2023, the Feast of the Glorious and God-crowned great sovereigns and equal to the apostles Constantine and Helen was celebrated by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem with a transference of the actual Feast date.
On this Feast, the Church honors Constantine the Great as an apostle, because with the decree of the Milanese of the year AD 312, he recognized Christianity as the freed religion of the Roman state, and allowed the construction of Churches for the worship of the true God through Christ, His incarnate Son. The Church also honors his mother Saint Helen on this day, because, following her son as king, she came to the Holy Land and erected the Church of the Resurrection on the Holy Sepulchre and the Martyrdom on the Horrendous Golgotha and the Basilica of the Nativity in Bethlehem and other churches in different places of the incarnate presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Meditation of His Beatitude Patriarch Pizzaballa: Most Holy Trinity, Year A
Jn 3:16-18
In some passages of the Gospel of John, we find words of Jesus that are like summaries, keys to reading, and understanding all the actions of God.
The passage we hear on this Feast of the Most Trinity (Jn 3:16-18), which is part of the dialogue between Jesus and Nicodemus, is just one of these fundamental passages.
As I said, it is not the only one, there are others.
Let us think about Chapter 6: 39-40, where Jesus says that “…this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” Or about Chapter 12:47, when Jesus repeats the same words that we hear today, as to repeat the essential: He did not come to condemn, but to salve.

The journey began from Palestine to Egypt, through the plateaus and deserts, and not via one of the known routes (three roads at the time) because they were fleeing from Herod the King. They reached the borders of Egypt and made the following stops during their journey:
1- Al-Farma: The Holy Family traveled from Bethlehem to Gaza to the Zaraneeq reserve (Al-Felusiyat), 37 km west of Al-Arish, and entered Egypt through the northern side of the Al-Farma (Bloziom) located between the cities of Al-Arish and Port Said.
2- Tal Basta: The Holy Family entered the city of Tal Basta near the city of Zagazig in the Sharqia governorate. The people of the city mistreated them, so they left.
3- The Mahmah (now Mostorod): Its name was the Mahmah because it was a place of bathing, and in it the Virgin bathed Christ and washed his clothes, with a spring of water that is present until today.

Today, it is a special Pentecost that we are celebrating here in Jerusalem. First because we have finally returned to celebrate at the Dormition, as per tradition, after the end of the renovations that have restored it to its former glory. But also because today, along with the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are also blessing the beginning of the abbatial ministry of Fr. Nikodemus Schnabel, newly elected abbot, and until now Patriarchal Vicar for Migrants and Asylum Seekers. It is therefore an important moment for the whole Church in Jerusalem.
