The Chaldean Church condemns what happened in Olympics

What happened at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics is shameful and a mockery of the Christian religion, hurting the faith and feelings of more than two and a half billion Christians in the world. The Islamic religion was also violated by burning the Quran in Sweden. These heinous acts are completely unacceptable and the Olympics image does not shine with.

Secularism, as it presents itself, is not hostile to religions, but rather respects everyone, believers and non-believers. This is a positive thing.

The principles of the Olympic Games aim to bring peoples together in love, respect and cooperation, not in wounding and division.

The Chaldean Church, with its Patriarch Cardinal Louis Sako, its bishops, daughters and sons, stands with the Church in France and its Assembly of Bishops in this insult to a sacred religious symbol.

This statement was originally published on the website of the Chaldean Patriarchate in Baghdad.
