His Holiness Pope Tawadros II Receives His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II and His Holiness Catholicos Aram I
On Thursday 9 May 2024’s evening, Thursday, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, received at the Papal Residence in Cairo, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, and Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches, and His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Church, Holy See of Cilicia, and Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches, and the delegation accompanying each of them.
This meeting preceded the meetings of the Heads of the Oriental Orthodox Churches in the Middle East, which will be held in Cairo, hosted by the Coptic Orthodox Church.
The past few days witnessed preparatory meetings by delegations from the three Churches that are members of the permanent committee, where Dr. Gergis Saleh, Coordinator of relations between the Churches of the Middle East, and Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches, led the meeting’s secretariat.
His Holiness Pope Tawadros II sent His Eminence Metropolitan Thomas, Metropolitan of Al-Qusiya and Mir, His Grace Bishop Angelos, General Bishop of the churches of Northern Shoubra, His Grace Bishop Eklimandos, General Bishop of the churches of Almaza, Al Amal City and East Nasr City and Dr. Gergis Saleh, Coordinator of relations between the Churches of the Middle East, and Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches, to welcome the Heads of the two Churches at Cairo Airport.
