The Chaldean Patriarchate Holds a Funeral Mass for His Holiness Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

The Chaldean Patriarchate mourns His Holiness Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and thanks God for all the graces  he bestowed upon the Church and humanity through his services.

The late Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, was great man of prayer, humble and close to people during their difficulties. He established through his writings, a firm and important theological bases for faith stability, promoted approach between Churches and religions focusing on the application of scientific thoughts and logic.

He also extended bridges between people by highlighting: human dignity; fraternity and conviviality; peace and environment; as well as spiritual and moral values.

His resignation in 2013 was a “lesson to learn” for all ecclesiastical and political officials: that when “they” cannot perform “their duties” as required, they better step down.

On this occasion, the Patriarchate will hold a funeral mass on Monday, January 9, 2023, at 5:30 PM, at Saint Joseph Cathedral / Karrada.

NOTE: For the priests, please bring with you, white shirt with purple stole, while bishops can bring complete vestment with their crown.
