A General Meeting for the Team of the MECC General Secretariat and Future Aspirations

"Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things" (Matthew 25:23)

How great is giving when it is translated into words and deeds through service, faithfulness and love. With these words we can describe the service of our colleagues in the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC), Mr. Pierre Tanios, the Treasurer, who has been loyal for MECC for nearly 50 years, and Mrs. Ghada Traboulsi, the Administrative Assistant and Insurance Delegate, who has been the caring mother for nearly 25 years.

Colleagues Pierre and Ghada were honored by the Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Professor Dr. Michel Abs, in a general meeting for the team of the MECC General Secretariat held today, Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the MECC headquarters in Beirut.

The meeting began with a Prayer and a Reading from the Bible of Saint Luke 16:19-31. It was read by Professor Dr. Laure Abi Khalil, the Coordinator of the Social Cohesion and Human Dignity Program at MECC. Then, Father Dr. Antoine Al-Ahmar, Director of the Theological and Ecumenical Department at MECC, gave a Biblical Meditation in which he emphasized the importance of giving and standing by each human to serve him with dignity and justice through the abundant blessings that God has granted us. Colleagues also shared their experiences and opinions regarding their work in the Middle East Council of Churches and their humanitarian and social mission.

Afterwards, the Secretary General Professor Dr. Michel Abs offered to each one of the honorees colleagues Pierre and Ghada, an honorary shield as a token of respect, gratitude, and thanked them for their endless contributions in the field of the Lord and their generous service in the Middle East Council of Churches, which continues to this day with great dedication and loyalty.

For the occasion, Professor Dr. Abs delivered a heartfelt speech in which he thanked the honorees for their efforts, sacrifices and zeal for the message of the Middle East Council of Churches, praising their tireless work and diligence over the years. For their part, colleagues in the General Secretariat also wished Pierre and Ghada continued health, giving and blessings, raising Prayers to God to grant them strength and determination in their work.

In the second part of the meeting, Professor Michel Abs presented a detailed explanation of the spiritual and Ecclesiastical fruits of his visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt on the occasion of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The meeting included also discussions about the achievements that have been made and future projects.
