The National Evangelical Church in Beirut Celebrates its 175th Jubilee

On the occasion of the 175th Jubilee of the foundation of the National Evangelical Church in Beirut (NECB), a Worship Service was held on Sunday morning, 14 May 2023, in the Church. It was presided by Reverend Dr. Habib Badr, President of the National Evangelical Union in Lebanon, and MECC Honorary President. The Right Reverend Ernst Gohl, Bishop of the Evangelical Church of Württemberg, participated in the Service, along with a Church delegation from Germany, and preached the Sermon.
In the afternoon, a special celebration of the Jubilee was held in the Sanctuary, with the participation of Reverend Dr. Paul Haidostian, President of the Union of the Armenian Evangelical Churches in the Near East, President of Haigazian University in Lebanon, and MECC President for the Evangelical Family, and Reverend Joseph Kassab, President of the Supreme Council of the Evangelical Community and Secretary General of the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon. Attendees were also Bishops of several Eastern Churches in Beirut and their representatives, along with the Heads of all the Protestant Churches, the MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, Reverend Dr. Rima Nasrallah, Coordinator of the MECC Eco Justice Unit, representatives of Church organizations in Lebanon and abroad, as well as official personalities and guests from various fields.
The celebration began with a Prayer presided by Reverend Dr. Habib Badr, who gave in his speech a brief history of the American Protestant mission in Beirut, out of which NECB came to be. From her side, Reverend Dr. Rima Nasrallah delivered a spiritual speech in which she reflected on the future horizons of the Church and NECB.
In addition, the celebration included various hymns and music, in addition to speeches via video from the partners of the National Evangelical Church in Beirut from Germany and the United States of America, as well as speeches from some guests who participated in the celebration in the Church.
