A Delegation from “Bread for the World” Visiting MECC in Beirut
As part of its program in Lebanon, a delegation from the international humanitarian organization “Bread for the World”, a partner of the Middle East Council of Churches, visited the offices of the MECC General Secretariat in Beirut, on Monday 20 February 2023. The delegation was received by the MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, alongside a team from the MECC General Secretariat.
The “Bread for the World” delegation included officers and consultants from the organization, Francis Tams, Ghinwa Mikdashi, Jens Halve, Nadja Schlau, and Sabine Schwirner.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Secretary General Dr. Abs welcomed the delegation, and thanked “Bread for the World” for its continuous cooperation with the Middle East Council of Churches, and its support for the various MECC programs organized on the Ecumenical and humanitarian levels. Dr. Abs also hoped to strengthen this half a century long partnership, in new projects aiming at achieving the desired common goals.
During the meeting, attendees from the visiting delegation and MECC team were thoroughly introduced to each other. They discussed the latest social and economic updates in the Middle East, as well as the challenges that the region’s people are facing due to the international and regional crises.
Moreover, a follow up and coordination discussion was made. The attendees talked about the latest developments of the MECC work, especially the programs it is implementing in partnership with “Bread for the World”. They also reviewed together the progress of the projects to be executed. This is in addition to exchanging opinions and experiences in order to improve the work mechanisms and enhance cooperation in future programs.
Following this session, some members of both teams held a working session on operational and administrative matters.
