Alarm bells continue to sound in the ME, as more countries are either reporting Omicron cases for the first time or by the hundreds. Governments are worried that the holiday period exacerbated the spread and that current vaccination efforts are not enough.

Some countries such as Egypt might find it easier to maneuver through this incoming wave but the same cannot be said for Palestinian held territories and Lebanon who cannot afford lockdowns if the situation chooses to worsen.

For the time being, the Omicron variant is appearing in unvaccinated people the most wile local governments are unable to vaccinate the majority of its citizens.
