His Holiness Pope Francis honors Professor Ibrahim Traboulsi

And the Middle East Council of Churches congratulates him

The Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches, Dr. Michel Abs and members of the General Secretariat’s team extended their warmest congratulations to the Legal Adviser and Member of the Executive Committee of the Council, Lawyer Ibrahim Alfred Traboulsi, on the occasion of awarding him the Order of Saint Gregory the Great at the rank of Commander from His Holiness Pope Francis.

This honor is the culmination of Professor Traboulsi’s career and his services as a legal advisor to the Archdiocese of Beirut, Byblos and their dependencies for the Melkite Greek Catholic Church and the Churches for fifty years.

His Beatitude Patriarch Youssef al-Absi, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East for the Melkite Greek Catholic Church, conferred the medal on him during an official ceremony held at the “Liqa’ Center” of the Melkite Greek Catholic Patriarchate in Rabwah, Lebanon, on Thursday, January 20, 2022, in the presence of His Excellency the Papal Ambassador to Lebanon Monsignor Joseph Spiteri and a group of public figures and spiritual, political and security leaders, along with the family of the honored, friends and loved ones who accompanied him throughout years of service and giving.

A delegation from the Middle East Council of Churches, headed by the Associate Secretary-General, Father Nicholas Bustros, represented the Secretary-General, Dr. Michel Abs, participated in the honoring ceremony of Professor Traboulsi and congratulated him for his relentless efforts to support truth and the rule of law and justice.

“7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
