The Ecojustice Adhoc Committee in a Visit to HE Bishop Elias Audi

MECC is Celebrating the Opening of the “Season of Creation” 2021 in St. Nicolas Church, Beirut

The MECC Ecojustice Adhoc Committee is conducting a series of visits to the heads of Churches. Thus, a delegation representing the committee visited today on 18th of August the Metropolitan of Beirut and its Dependencies of the Greek Orthodox His Eminence Bishop Elias Audi, in the Archdiocese headquarters in Achrafieh, Beirut.

The delegation included members of the committee, Dr. Rima Nasrallah from the Evangelical Church, Dr. Dany El-Obeid from the Orthodox Church and the Director of the MECC Communication and Public Relations Department Mrs. Huguette Salameh.

This visit aimed at informing Audi about the “Season of Creation” 2021 project and its activities in the Middle East. Noting that the season will be celebrated for the first time in the East since MECC have translated its international booklet into Arabic.

After receiving the blessing from His Eminence Bishop Elias Audi, it was agreed to organize the inaugural celebration of the Middle East “Season of Creation” in St. Nicolas Greek Orthodox Church in Achrafieh, Beirut, on Tuesday 31 August 2021 at 6PM Beirut time.

It is worth noting that Christians around the world celebrate this season during a period dedicated to Prayer and work for the protection of the environment and its creatures, between September 1st and October 4 of each year. This year’s theme is " A home for all? Renewing the Oikos of God ".
