This is one of the many visits the General Secretariat team is conducting to the Archbishops in Beirut supervising the Ecumenical Committee formed from the different Beirut Churches to provide relief to their people following the Beirut port explosion of August 4th.

His Excellency thanked the Council for its role in healing the wounds of Beirutis, he commended the work of the Diakonia Service Department team and its remarkable role in working with the love and joy of giving to support those affected by the explosion. He pointed out that the needs in Beirut are constantly growing and that the preparations to face what’s coming are the concerns of the Archdiocese today in light of its responsibility for its parishioners burdened by the economic hardship, the banking crisis and despair with no solution in sight.

From his end, Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs presented to His Excellency a series of projects that the Council is currently working on with all its departments in order to enhance the Ecumenical spirit, build bridges between its member Churches and serve humanity in the East and preserve dignity. He assured His Excellency that the Council is keen to make better use of its capabilities and energy to respond to urgent needs, especially with the successive crises our societies are facing in different Middle Eastern countries.
