“TearFund” Delegation at the Middle East Council of Churches

On Friday May 7, 2021, a delegation from the international humanitarian organization Tearfund visited the MECC headquarters in Beirut. The delegation included the Regional Director Mrs. Karen Sorensen, new Country Director for Lebanon Mr. Dani Tayyar, new Program Officer for Lebanon and Yemen Mr. Farah Bou Kher and new Person in Charge of supporting the Country Director in peace building initiatives and supporting fragile states Mrs. Manal Tayyar. A meeting was held with the MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, Executive Assistant Mrs. Seta Hadeshian and Beirut Diakonia Department's coordinator Ms. Nina Hallak.

During the meeting, Mrs. Sorensen announced that she will be retiring from TearFund, thanking MECC for its efforts and the constant cooperation between both organizations. She also introduced the new members to the Council’s General Secretariat, with whom the MECC team will work and coordinate in the future.  

MECC General Secretary welcomed the TearFund delegation and gave the new members a brief overview of the MECC identity, mission and role, highlighting the strategic framework and policies that the team is working on in its programs and projects.

TearFund delegation revealed its future projects to be implemented with Middle Eastern Churches and the Council, so both organizations can enhance their cooperation and develop their partnership in order to achieve desired goals.
