As international vaccine diplomacy gains momentum, Middle East countries continue to prepare for the new omicron variant by restricting travel, announcing lockdowns, and closing airports.

Despite the efforts, the new strain was detected in some countries. However, cases for the time being, have been contained as proper procedures have been followed and more people have been vaccinated.
