MCC Delegation Visiting the Middle East Council of Churches

A delegation from the Mennonite Central Committee – MCC visited the headquarters of the Middle East Council of Churches in Beirut, on Thursday, October 28, 2021. The delegation included the Representative for Northeast Asia Chris Rice and the Legislative associate for the Middle East and US immigration policy Hannah Markey.

MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, Director of the Theological and Ecumenical Department Father Dr. Antoine Al Ahmar and the Executive Assistant to the Secretary General Mrs. Seta Hadeshian welcomed the delegation.

The meeting aimed at deepening the MCC delegation’s knowledge about the MECC Ecumenical and Humanitarian mission and the goals that the Council is working on to achieve through various programs and projects. The delegation was also briefed about the MECC constituency and structure, and the work of its departments. The participants also discussed the advocacy and human rights programs that the Council had previously implemented, especially since advocacy is an MCC issue of interest.

Noting that this meeting opened the door for new cooperation and future projects between MCC and the Middle East Council of Churches.
