and the Families of the Beirut Blast Victims at LIQAA

This news is also available in Arabic and Spanish.

A group of the families of the Beirut blast victims of August 4, 2020, especially the families of the 10 martyrs of the Beirut Fire Brigade, responded to the invitation of the Theological and Ecumenical Department in the Middle East Council of Churches to participate in the Trauma Healing and Spiritual Counseling program, through a meeting on 15, 16, and 17 October 2021 at the "Liqaa" Center in Rabweh - Lebanon.

The topics and activities of the general spiritual and psychological sessions and the private spiritual and psychological counseling sessions focused on the feelings of grief, abandonment, loss, blame, anger, forgiveness, forgetting, and how to deal with each of them.

Undoubtedly, the process of healing the wounds and traumas of this group is very difficult given what they went through and are still going through in their search for how to accept and outlive this suffering. They experienced the loss of their children in hard and abnormal conditions and the absence of justice and accountability is making it even harder, especially when they are subjected to mockery of their affliction by certain groups who try to stop them and other people involved in their cause from finding the truth.

We join our voice to theirs, demanding that the truth be revealed so that they can work on healing their traumas and wounds, grieving, having their lives back and move on with the living.
