Distribution of Hygiene, School and Winter Clothing Kits to Children in Rural Damascus

In its endeavor to support those most in need, MECC provided a variety of kits to the students of three schools in Jairoud, Muadamiyat al-Qalamoun and Al Bayad in Rural Damascus after completing the rehabilitation of the WASH facilities in those schools which will ensure a healthy and safe environment for students.

The distribution included hygiene kits, winter clothing and shoes in addition to school bags and stationery. It was organized in the schools while respecting all precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The number of beneficiaries reached 1730 students in the 6- 14 age range.

The local community and the schools’ administrations highly valued the programs implemented by MECC and expressed their happiness about the improvement in the WASH situation in the targeted schools because their previous state was truly a huge burden and negatively affected the academic performance of students.

The parents also expressed their gratitude for the project which made their children very happy. In fact, one of the mothers said,” Thank you for making our deprived children feel happy.” While one of the fathers stated,” My daughter has always dreamed of a school bag. Every year, she used to put her books in an old fabric bag because I could not afford school bags nor new clothes for her and her siblings.”
