MECC organized a crochet training course in Izra’a city in Daraa governorate and Altal in Rural Damascus

The training targeted 46 women; 21 women in Altal learned the basics of crocheting and making hand-crocheted accessories, while 25 women in Izra’a city learned the basics of crocheting and making handbags and baskets in different colors and sizes.

At the end of the one-month course, every participant received a tool kit that will enable her to start-up a small business.

One of the trainees said, “My husband is an employee whose wage is barely enough to cover some of our expenses; therefore, I wanted to learn a new profession that I can practice at home and earn money that helps me support my family”.

The trainer in Izra’a said,” The course was successful. The trainees benefited a lot and I was very happy to see them able to make handbags on their own. They will be able to use the new skills to support their families”.
