His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II receives his brother in Christ His Holiness Catholicos Aram I

On March 23, 2024, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, and Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches, received his brother in Christ His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Church, Holy See of Cilicia, and Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches, at the Patriarchal Residence in Atchaneh, Lebanon.

His Holiness Catholicos Aram I was accompanied by His Eminence Nareg Alemezian, Ecumenical Officer at the Armenian Orthodox Catholicosate, and Rev. Fr. Sarkis Aprahamian.

During the meeting, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II and His Holiness Catholicos Aram I discussed matters or relevance for the two churches. They spoke about the different issues that affect the Christian presence in the Middle East. They also discussed the challenges in the field of the ecumenical relations as well as the results of the theological dialogues of the oriental orthodox churches with other Churches.

Their Eminences Archbishops: Mor Severius Roger Akhrass, Patriarchal Vicar for Syriac Studies, and Mor Augeen Al-Khoury Nemat, Patriarchal Secretary, also attended the meeting.
