The Service of the Akathist hymn at the Greek Patriarchate of Jerusalem
On the evening of 22nd March / 4th April 2025, the service of the Akathist Hymn took place at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. According to the typical order, within the framework of the Small Compline service, the hymns of the Akathist were chanted, specifically the “I will open my mouth” and the four Stases of the Akathist Hymn were read melodiously.
The first Stasis of the Hymn was read by the chief celebrant of the service, His Beatitude our Father and Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilos; the second by the Elder Sacristan, His Eminence Archbishop Isidoros of Hierapolis; the third by the Elder Dragoman, Archimandrite Matthaios; and the fourth by the Elder Kamarasis, Archimandrite Nektarios. They prayed with the congregation for the help and intercessions of the Most Blessed Theotokos amidst the storms of trials during the Holy and Great Lent, as the great feast of the Annunciation of the Theotokos draws near.
