On Bright Monday, 8th/21st April 2017, the Paschal service was held, during which the Resurrection Canon of Saint John of Damascus was chanted and the Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom was celebrated in the monastic Church of Saints Constantine and Helen. His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem and honorary President of the Middel East Council of Churches, with the participation in prayer of the Holy Archbishops, Priests, Monks, and many pilgrims.
Upon the conclusion of this festive service, the Patriarchal procession made its way to the Patriarchate Hall, accompanied by Hierodeacon Simeon’s chanting of “Christ is Risen” and “The Day of Resurrection.”
There, a fraternal embrace was exchanged between the Archbishops and Priests, and the pilgrims received the blessing of His Beatitude, who distributed the traditional Paschal red eggs to them.
A festive Paschal meal then followed for the Fathers of the Brotherhood in the refectory of the Patriarchate.
