Following a letter sent by His Beatitude Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia to His Beatitude Patriarch Kyrios Kyrios Theophilos III, the Patriarch of Jerusalem, and the Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches, the Patriarch of Serbia expressed his desire to visit the Holy Land, the Holy City of Jerusalem, pay tribute to the Most Holy Sepulchre, and to have a meeting with his Jerusalem counterpart.
His Beatitude Patriarch Theophlios III replied to him in the following letter, welcoming him wholeheartedly as follows;
“Your Beatitude Patriarch of Serbia, our beloved brother in Christ Porfirije;
With great joy we received your letter, in which you express your wishes to us, so that we can be strengthened in spirit through the lent, with the grace of God.
In addition, Your Beatitude expressed the wish to visit the Holy Land for pilgrimage, the place “where His feet stood” (Psalm 131,7), hearing the words of Saint Paul: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb. 4,16).
Looking forward to “be comforted together with you by our mutual faith and communion” (Romans 1,11-12), we are delighted to welcome and host Your Beatitude and Your entourage.
Wherefore, awaiting your arrival in the Holy Land, we send our fraternal love from the Holy and life-giving Tomb of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
From the Holy City of Jerusalem
Beloved brother in Christ,
Theophilos III
Patriarch of Jerusalem
