His Holiness Catholicos Aram I Met with His Holiness Pope Francis

On Wednesday, June 12th, 2024, His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Holy See of Cilicia, and Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches, met with His Holiness Pope Francis in the Vatican.

During the meeting, they discussed several important topics proposed by the Catholicos:

a) The necessity to broaden and transform the ecumenical relations into a partnership.

b) The goal of establishing a common date for the celebration of the Holy Resurrection by all Churches.

c) The necessity of convening a Third Vatican Council with active participation from non-Catholic Churches.

d) The importance of strengthening Christian-Muslim coexistence in Lebanon and the election of a president.

e) The imperative of releasing the Armenian political prisoners of war held captive in Azerbaijan.

f) The necessity of returning the indigenous Artsakh Armenians to their homeland under international protection.
