His Holiness Catholicos Aram I in Detroit
On Monday, October 22nd, 2024, His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Catholicos of the Armenian Church, Holy See of Cilicia, and Honorary President of the Middle East Council of Churches. concluded his pontifical visit with Detroit as his final destination, marking the culmination of his official travels. Upon his arrival with his delegation, His Holiness engaged in a series of meetings with various community bodies and institutions. On Wednesday, October 24th, parishioners were invited to meet and receive his pontifical blessing following the “Hrashapar” ceremony at Detroit’s Sourp Sarkis Church.
In his pontifical message, His Holiness commended the community’s efforts, emphasizing that the Church is, in essence, the people themselves and stands at the center of community life. Reflecting on the phrase “but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever,” he spoke on the eternal glory of God, explaining that the Kingdom of God is not merely a future reality; rather, it was brought into the world with Christ’s incarnation.
