Women Meeting for the Diocese of Damascus and its Countryside in Saint George Al-Homeyra Patriarchal Monastery - Al-Mashtaya

July 21-24, 2023

“The woman said to him: Sir, give me this water so that I will not thirst nor come here to draw water” (John 4:15).

With the blessings of His Beatitude Patriarch John X, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, and President of the Middle East Council of Churches for the Orthodox Family, the meeting of the ladies of the Diocese of Damascus and its countryside was launched at the Patriarchal Monastery Saint George Al-Homeyra with the title: “Your Presence Gives Me Life” and different subjects.

Their Eminences Arsenios (Dahdal), the Abbot of the monastery and Moussa (Al Khasi), the patriarchal assistant inaugurated the opening session. Father Daniel Nehme, leader of the meeting, spoke about the Samaritan woman, which inspired the slogan of the meeting. He also introduced the meeting’s board. Then the ladies began to learn the anthem of the meeting, and later participated in a joyous acquaintance activity prepared by the staff. After that, the ladies went to attend the Vespers prayer in the monastery's church, followed by a lecture entitled "I care for myself to grow and be renewed" with Mrs. Sana Shehadeh. The first day ended with a nice evening reception, in which the ladies participated with joy and enthusiasm.

The second day began with Matins followed by the Divine Liturgy. After that, the ladies met with His Eminence Bishop Ephrem (Maalouli), Metropolitan of Aleppo. The meeting was titled "What do we ask God for?" This was followed by a special activity and a workshop with presbytera Noha Nehme entitled "The Rhythm of Today's Life". After vespers and taking a short walk, the second day of the meeting ended with a talent show prepared by the participants.
