His Holiness Pope Tawadros II Meets the Youth of Milan
The Church of Virgin Mary and Saint Anthony in Milan hosted the meeting of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, with the youth of the diocese of Milan.
The youth gave His Holiness a warm welcome, asserting that they had learned from His Holiness the love of the Church, the love of Egypt, and love for all in general. This made them take the verse “Love never fails” (1 Corinthians 13:8) as their motto for all matters in their lives, due to what they learned from His Holiness.
They thanked His Holiness for coming and visiting them, chanting: “Axios Ava Tawadros.”. They then displayed a movie of a beautiful hymn about love for the Church and giving thanks to His Holiness.
Following this, the youth delivered a presentation of the services they carry out in the diocese.
After this was His Holiness’ sermon, at the beginning of which he expressed his happiness at visiting Milan. He spoke about his studying at university and how during this time, he belonged to the society of the School of Pharmacy. He asked the servant there for prescriptions in the Holy Bible. He then presented a prescription of Saint Paul the Apostle, who was a persecutor of the Church and then believed. When Saint Paul visited the city of Corinth, he wrote to the Corinthians:
“Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. Let all that you do be done with love.”
This prescription is what makes a person follow the true Christian path:
1) Watch: Pay attention! The world is full of many things and a Christian must choose what is appropriate for him. An example of this is Saint Theodora, who adorned herself with purity against the lusts of the world.
2) Stand Fast in the Faith: A person’s faith is his belief. A modern day example is the Coptic martyrs in Libya. When they were exposed to something that shakes their faith, they did not agree to it and were steadfast in faith. Saint John wrote: “And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” (1 John 5:4). Know that your Christ is with you and does not leave you…
