GOPA-DERD Team Continues Its Relief Field Work in Syria
Complementing the work carried out under the directives of His Beatitude Patriarch John X, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, and in light of the continuous earthquake emergency response work that began during the first hours of the earthquake disaster, GOPA-DERD team, at the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East, continues an intensive response operation on the ground, in order to meet the priorities of the great need on more than one level.
In Hama, GOPA-DERD's team distributed food kits, ready-to-eat meals, and family hygiene kits to the affected families in the shelter center located in the Monastery of St. George.
The team in Hama also visited different shelters and schools that require restoration in Khan Shaykhun, and met with the officials and local authorities in the town to receive an insight about statistics regarding the damaged houses as a result of the earthquake, in preparation for providing the required response.
In Aleppo, GOPA-DERD team provided health awareness sessions for a group of adolescent girls and women in the shelter center of the Umayyad School in Al-Halak, along with the distribution of women's hygiene kits, as part of the "From Me, to You" initiative funded and launched with love by the ladies and gentlemen team of GOPA-DERD. This team has financed, purchased, collected and coordinated the preparation of thousands of women hygiene kits that include many basic requirements for women and girls, in addition to medicines as part of the response to the earthquake disaster…
