His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II Inaugurated A Spiritual Retreat For the Archbishops of the Archdioceses in Syria
On April 4, 2022, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, inaugurated a spiritual retreat entitled “for them, I sanctify myself”, for the Archbishops of the Archdioceses in Syria, at Mor Aphrem Monastery in Maarat Saydnaya.
At the beginning of the retreat, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II welcomed their Eminences, and spoke about the period of the great lent which is an oppo to strengthen the spiritual life and return to one’s self meditating the life of our Lord Jesus Christ. He pointed out that there is a great need to follow Christ and His teachings while we are witnessing to Him in this world. After announcing the program of the retreat, His Holiness spoke about the major challenges that face our church in the East, especially the economic difficulties which result in poverty and migration. His Holiness prayed for the Holy Spirit to guide the fathers who are meeting in this retreat, for the glory of God and the edification of the church.
