Lesson #1 in GHF Series: “Where Are You? – 7 Places Where You Meet With God”, From His Holiness Pope Tawadros II

His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, gave his weekly on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 7pm from the Church of St. Virgin Mary and St. Anba Bishoy at the St. Mark Cathedral in Abbassia, Egypt, in the presence of a limited number of people, including both congregants and clergy. This was the first time for the Wednesday evening meeting to be held in the presence of a live audience since the onset of the Corona pandemic, since almost two years ago.

His Holiness Pope Tawadros II started a new series of contemplations that will extend throughout the weeks of the Great Holy Fast (GHF) and it is based on a question that God asked Adam: “Where Are You?” H.H. indicated that God is also always looking for us, and that periods of fasting provide us with seven times or locations at which we meet with God. The seven locations [correspond to and] unfold across the seven Sundays of the GHF, as follows:

Sundays of the Great & Holy Lent

Treasures in Heaven (Preparation week) (Mt 6): Meeting with God in one’s prayer room and times of private prayer.

Temptation Sunday (Mt 4): The wilderness – meeting with God in times of solitude.

Prodigal Son (Lk 15): Meeting with God in the home.

Samaritan Woman (Jn 4): Meeting with God at the well.

The Paralyzed Man (Jn 5): Meeting with God at the Pool of Bethesda.

The Man Born Blind (Jn 9): Meeting with God “along the way”.

Palm Sunday (Mt 21): Meeting with God at church.

His Holiness the Pope indicated that we can enjoy meetings with God during times of our praying in private - “But you, when you pray, go into your room” (Mt 6:6)…
