On Sunday, July 11th, 2021, the Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ was marked at St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Antelias. His Holiness Aram I presided over the Divine Liturgy celebrated by His Eminence Archbishop Shahan Sarkissian.

Archbishop Shahan focused his sermon on the epistle to the Ephesians (5:14) and emphasized the importance of self renewal by the light of Christ. His Eminence remembered the importance of the Armenian tradition, where the feast is also called “Vartavar,” and the faithful sprinkle water on each other. He concluded with a prayer to God for the outpouring of His light on us and washing away our sins.
