His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark gave his weekly Wednesday sermon on Wednesday evening December 1st, from the Church of Transfiguration at Logos Center at the Papal Headquarters in St. Anba Bishoy Monastery in Wadi El-Natrun. The sermon was broadcast live on several Christian satellite television channels, as well as over the Internet on the Church’s Coptic Media Center channel, COC. The sermon was given in the absence of a live congregation.

His Holiness Pope Tawadros II continued his series of sermon-contemplations on wisdoms from Psalm 37, specifically teaching from verses 30-33 of the Psalm:

30 The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of justice.

31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

32 The wicked watches the righteous, and seeks to slay him.

33 The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.

During this sermon, H.H. utilized three examples from the New Testament:

The house built upon a rock – Matthew 7:24-27 … upright faith is an important factor in one’s being able to speak wisdom/truth.

The parable of the two sons – Matthew 21:28-31 … overcome evil with good in order that you may be able to speak wisdom/truth

The parable of the Pharisee and the tax-collector – Luke 18:9-14 … repentance is important for our being able to speak wisdom/truth.

H.H. pointed out that the law [of God] is found in a person who has a pure heart, and so, if you wish to practice one of the wisdom teachings, to make your tongue speak wisdom:

1- You must have faith that is strong and upright,

2- You must express this faith through the doing of good deeds and that you do these deeds with love …
