His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, gave his weekly Wednesday sermon on this Wednesday evening, from the Papal Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt. The sermon was broadcast live on several Christian satellite television channels, as well as over the Internet on the Church’s Coptic Media Center channel, COC. The sermon was given in the absence of a live congregation.

H.H. Pope Tawadros II continued the sermon series on contemplations on wisdoms from Psalm 37, wherein he expanded on verses 25-26 from the Psalm:

25 I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.

26 He is ever merciful, and lends; and his descendants are blessed.

H.H. Pope Tawadros II pointed to the fact that a wise person lives in a continual state of inner peace, and inner peace is one and the same as satisfaction, further pointing out that these two verses are a result of real life experiences the prophet David attained in his life.

H.H. the Pope discussed three important principles for a life of inner peace (3 factors for one to have peace of mind), they are:

1-Having confidence that all things work out for the good, which is what happened with the prophet David, Ruth the Moabite, Joseph the righteous, St. Paul the apostle, and St. Mark, the evangelizer of Egypt.

2-Thanksgiving. In order for you to have peace of mind, offer continual thanksgiving and always be singing a silent hymn within yourself of the seven blessings that God has given us, as mentioned in the Prayer of Thanksgiving: “For He has covered us, helped us, guarded us, accepted us unto Him, spared us, supported us, and brought us to this hour.”

3-Honesty and faithfulness in all things. To have peace of mind, you must be faithful in what you say, in the promises you make, in the way you deal with others, and with the little that you have in your hand, and as you are faithful with the little that you do have, you will be blessed and God will give you more and more …
