The MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs Visits the Monastery of the Franciscan Fathers in Aleppo

The Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Dr. Michel Abs continued his official follow up visit to Aleppo, and visited the Head of the Franciscan Fathers Monastery in Aleppo, accompanied by the MECC Coordinator of Church and Media Relations Journalist Lea Adel Maamary, and the Director of the MECC Office in Aleppo Ms. Lamis Makhoul.

They were received by Father Raymond Girgis, the Episcopal Vicar of the Latin Church in Syria, and Father Bahjat Karakach, the Head of the Latin Monastery in Aleppo.

Following the reception, both sides discussed many Ecumenical, relief, social and media issues and the way to confront the challenges according to clear aspirations and strategy.

As well as, both sides discussed the activities and programs being implemented by MECC in general and in Aleppo in particular.

During the meeting, the possibility of media cooperation between the Council’s media and the Add Sama media affiliated with the Franciscan Fathers was discussed, in accordance with the existing media cooperation between all Ecumenical Christian media outlets.

At the end, the Secretary General visited the Monastery’s Church, and the Fathers offered him Church books.
