A Preparatory Meeting for the Celebration of the Annunciation

The Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Professor Michel Abs, received His Eminence Bishop Mar Matthias Charles Mrad, the Patriarchal Vicar of the Syriac Catholic Archdiocese of Beirut and the Head of the Episcopal Committee for Christian-Muslim Dialogue in Lebanon, accompanied by Mr. Charles Karnabi, a Member of the Board of Directors of Caritas for the Syriac Catholic Church and Vice President of the Charitable Society of the Syriac Catholic Church in Lebanon, on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at the MECC headquarters in Beirut.
The meeting was attended by Father Dr. Antoine Ahmar, the Director of the Theological and Ecumenical Department at MECC, the Journalist Lea Adel Maamary, the Media Officer and the Coordinator of the Church and Media Relations at MECC, and Dr. Laure Abi Khalil, the Coordinator of the Dialogue, Social Cohesion, and Rehabilitation of Human Dignity Programs at MECC.
The attendees discussed the importance of the Annunciation, especially in the convergence and rapprochement between all components of society. They also discussed the preparations for the celebration of the Feast of the Annunciation, which will be held on Tuesday, March 25, between the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) and the Episcopal Committee for Christian-Muslim Dialogue in Lebanon, emanating from the Council of Catholic Patriarchs and Bishops in Lebanon, in the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Annunciation-Museum at 4 pm.
Both parties exchanged their experiences and aspirations on various Ecumenical and social issues and the circumstances that the region is passing through. They also talked about the latest developments in the work of the Middle East Council of Churches and the most prominent programs it implements at various Ecumenical, humanitarian and media levels, stressing the importance of dialogue, building bridges, strengthening the ecumenical spirit and the need for networking and working together to achieve peace, justice and serve people with dignity.
During the visit, the Journalist Lea Adel Maamary conducted from the “Platform of the Word” at MECC, various media episodes with His Eminence Bishop Mar Matthias Charles Mrad and Mr. Serge Karnabi, about the blessed Season of Lent, the role of the family in facing challenges, and the importance of the media in conveying the good word.
