Reverend Dr. Paul Haidostian Visits MECC in Beirut
"The Council is my home and I have accompanied the most important historical milestones of the launch of its offices"
Reverend Dr. Paul Haidostian, President of the Union of the Armenian Evangelical Churches in the Near East (UAECNE), President of Haigazian University in Lebanon, and President of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) for the Evangelical Family, visited the Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Professor Dr. Michel Abs, on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the MECC headquarters in Beirut.
The visit began with a meeting between Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian and Professor Dr. Michel Abs, during which they discussed the most important current Church and Ecumenical issues, in addition to the ongoing preparations for the celebrations that will be held on the occasion of the "Week of Prayer for Christian Unity" in various Lebanese regions.
Then, Reverend Dr. Haidostian met with the team of the MECC General Secretariat. Professor Dr. Abs welcomed him, thanking him for the positive spirit he always spreads and his continuous cooperation in all necessary procedures for the MECC work. As well as, Dr. Abs praised the effectiveness of the Armenian Evangelical Church and the initiatives it implements to serve humanity and society.
For his part, Reverend Dr. Haidostian expressed his happiness to visit the MECC headquarters, which he considers his home, especially since he accompanied the most prominent historical milestones of the launch of the Council's offices and the strengthening of its Ecumenical work. He also talked about the importance of the media’s role in documenting stories and events in order to transmit them to future generations, in addition to the necessity of activating the archival tasks in Churches in order to preserve their legacy and the richness of their resources over the decades.
Dr. Haidostian also praised the importance of The Platform of the Word, which was established in the Fiftieth Year of MECC, and stressed that the media has a fundamental role in strengthening the unity of the Church.
At the end, the Secretary General Professor Dr. Michel Abs offered Revrend Dr. Paul Haidostian the medal of the Fiftieth Year of the Founding of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) as a token of love, appreciation and respect.
During this visit, the Journalist Lea Adel Maamary, the Media Officer at the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC), the Director of the Platform of the Word, and the Coordinator of the Church and Media Relations at MECC, conducted a special episode with Reverend Dr. Paul Haidostian in the Platform of the Word at MECC. The episode focused on the importance of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and this year’s theme “Do you believe this?” (John 11: 26), in addition to the importance of living the Ecumenical spirit in the face of all challenges, as well as the importance of the media in shedding light on humanitarian and social issues.
