Hope Does Not Disappoint
His Beatitude Patriarch Anba Ibrahim Ishak Inaugurates the Jubilee Year of Hope in the Catholic Church in Egypt
MECC Participates in the Celebratory Mass
Under the slogan “Hope Does Not Disappoint,” His Beatitude Patriarch Anba Ibrahim Ishak, Coptic Catholic Patriarch, and President of the Council of Catholic Patriarchs and Bishops in Egypt, celebrated the inauguration of the Jubilee Year of Hope “Pilgrims of Hope,” on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Egypt, Nasr City.
The CelebraTORY Mass was attended by Bishops, Heads of various Catholic churches in Egypt, representing the membership of the Council of Catholic Patriarchs and Bishops in Egypt, as well as the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) represented by the Archdeacon Garen Yosolkanian, Coordinator of the Eco Justice in the Council.
Participants were also Priests, Heads of various Monastic Groups in Egypt, both male and female, and their members from various Catholic Churches in Egypt, in addition to a large crowd of parishioners and Deacons.
The Divine Liturgy was held according to the Coptic Catholic Rite, with the participation of all the Bishops, and included a number of diverse hymns, recited by the Choir of Latin the Latin Diocese and the "Saint Joseph" Choir, led by Father Boutros Daniel and Maestro Magdalen Michel.
During the Divine Liturgy, Anba Ibrahim Ishak delivered a Sermon in which he talked about the concept of the Jubilee and the Jubilee Year, explaining the concept of the Jubilee in the Holy Bible, in addition to the mechanisms that the Universal Church and the Ecclesiastical authorities choose for determining the Jubilee Year.
His Beatitude also gave a historical presentation about the Jubilee in the Catholic Church throughout the ages, as well as an introductory overview about the design of the Jubilee Year of Hope "Hope Does Not Disappoint".
The Celebratory Divine Liturgy concluded with the recitation of the Jubilee Prayer of Hope, then Anba Ibrahim Ishak sent all those present to be a sign and a reason for hope for the people around them.
After the Mass, the Archdeacon Garen Yosolkanian met with His Beatitude the Patriarch, extending to him his congratulations on the occasion of the Jubilee Year, and explaining to him the various environmental activities carried out by the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) in Egypt.
It is worth noting that the various Catholic Dioceses in Egypt had celebrated the opening of the Jubilee Year of Hope on Sunday, December 29, 2024.
