The MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs Visits His Eminence Archbishop Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury in Homs

The Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Dr. Michel Abs visited His Eminence Archbishop Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, the Syriac Orthodox Bishop of Homs, Hama, Tartous and Environs, at the Archdiocese Headquarters in Homs.

During the visit, His Eminence the Archbishop and the Secretary General made a tour in the Archdiocese, where they went to the Saint Mary Church of the Holy Belt and its museum, which is being prepared to be launched and inaugurated in a larger way later.

They also met with the Heads of the Churches in Homs or their representatives and discussed various matters related to coordination between the Churches in Homs, stressing the necessity of establishing an office for the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) in Homs to deal with Ecumenical, Ecclesiastical, and developmental affairs.

The attendees discussed current issues and continued the meeting around an agape at the invitation of His Eminence Archbishop Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, where they agreed to continue coordination and hold permanent meetings in order to review the future of relations between the Churches and empowering society in Homs as well as various regions.
