Emphasizing the Importance of the Council’s Role in Bridging Distances Between the Churches

The Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Dr. Michel Abs and a delegation from the Council visited the Egyptian Thinker and Former Minister Dr. Samir Morcos, at his home in Cairo.

Dr. Michel Abs was accompanied by the Associate Secretary General, Reverend Refaat Fikry, and the Coordinator of Communication for Church Relations the journalist Lea Adel Maamary.

Amidst great love, Mr. Samir Morcos received Dr. Michel Abs and the MECC delegation. The meeting extended over two hours, during which the attendees discussed Church and national issues.

Firstly, Dr. Michel Abs presented some of the positions and milestones that took place years ago, and which were in the interest of the MECC, Christians, Churches, and the nation.

Then, he made a presentation on the activity that will be held in Egypt on the occasion of the Fiftieth Year of the MECC Founding, and the reactivation of its role on the land of Egypt, which is an oasis of dialogue, diversity, convergence, and love.

For his part, Mr. Samir Morcos praised the tremendous work being made by MECC in various fields, through the development plans and precise strategies followed in the work.

In addition, he talked about the activity that the Council will implement on the occasion of the Fiftieth Year of its Founding, which will be organized in Egypt on the date of the entry of the Holy Family into it.

He also praised the idea of ​​reactivating the work of the Middle East Council of Churches’ Office in Egypt, given the value and Ecclesiastical and national uniqueness that it represents, and expressed his readiness to cooperate in areas in which he could offer his expertise.
