Father Charbel Al Khoury Visits MECC in Beirut

Father Charbel El Khoury, the Parish Priest of Our Lady - Amchit in Lebanon, and the Editor and Pesenter of the “Don’t Be Afraid” program on Télé Lumière and Noursat, visited the Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) Professor Dr. Michel Abs, on Thursday, November 20, 2024, at the offices of the MECC General Secretariat in Beirut.

During the meeting in which the Journalist Lea Adel Maamary, Coordinator of the Church and Media Relations at MECC and Responsible of “The Platform of the Word,” participated, the attendees discussed the MECC strategic directions and future vision. In addition to the programs that MECC is currently implementing as well as the projects it is working to organize in the coming period in order to achieve the desired Ecumenical and humanitarian goals.

The attendees also discussed the difficult circumstances that the region is passing through, condemning the war that Lebanon is facing today, which has affected people and stones, and stressing the need to protect them and make efforts to achieve peace, truth and justice.

At the end of the meeting, the Secretary General Professor Dr. Michel Abs offered Father Charbel Al Khoury the medal of the Fiftieth Year of the Founding of the Middle East Council of Churches, as a token of love and appreciation.

Father Charbel was a guest on “The Platform of the Word” as part of the “Family Remains” program, where he congratulated the Middle East Council of Churches (MECC) on the new Media Production Center, hoping that this Platform would be a loud voice for what is hurting humanity, and praising the importance of the role of the Christian media in spreading the message of peace in the world.

Noting that the program is being filmed at the Platform’s Center at the MECC headquarters in Beirut, and will soon be broadcasted on the MECC social media platforms, and Télé Lumière, and Noursat TV Station, as well as other Christian and Ecumenical stations.
