The Middle East Council of Churches Participating in the Conference of

“Al-Ghadir and Human Sciences”

On the occasion of God’s Great Feast, “Eid Al-Ghadir,” and under the auspices of the Vice-President of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council in Lebanon, His Eminence Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, the “Macharek Center for Research and Contemporary Intellectual Studies” organized a conference entitled “Al-Ghadir and Human Sciences” (Al-Ghadiriya Beirut 2023), on Wednesday 5 July 2023, at the Imam Sadiq Cultural Compound, Lebanon.

The conference was attended by the representative of the Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, His Beatitude Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rai, Father Dr. Bassem Al-Rai, the representative of the Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdel Latif Darian, Sheikh Bilal Al-Malla, the representative of Sheikh Al-Akl of the Unitarian Druze community, Dr. Sami Abi Al-Muna, Nizam Al-Halabi, and the representative of the Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Mr. Mojtaba Amani, the Political Advisor Mr. Mahdi Nabioni.

Attendees were also the representative of the Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches, Dr. Michel Abs, Dr. Laure Abi Khalil, alongside political, judicial, educational, religious, cultural, and social personalities, as well as representatives of associations, concerned parties, and interested people.

After a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, the conference began with several speeches which were centered around the meanings, objectives and events of Eid Al-Ghadir. The conference also included two sessions about the anthropology of the Ghadir and its perspectives in the philosophy of history and political sociology. Hence, different explanations and lectures were presented clarifying the topic at hand.
