Dr. Peter Makari and a Global Ministries Delegation

Visiting Our Lady Dispensary Affiliated to MECC, in Beirut

Dr. Peter Makari, the Global Relations Minister of the Middle East and Europe Global Ministries humanitarian organization, which is a partner of the Middle East Council of Churches, headed a delegation from the organization on a visit to Our Lady dispensary affiliated to MECC and located in the Sabtieh region, Lebanon, on Friday 21 April 2023. The delegation was received by the Coordinator of the Lebanon’s Office of the Service and Relief - Diakonia Department Mrs. Nina Hallak, and the dispensary team.

Reverend Dr. John Dorhauer, General Minister and President, United Church of Christ

Reverend Dr. Karen Georgia Thompson, Associate General Minister; Co-Executive, Global Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and United Church of Christ.

During the visit, the dispensary’s team made a detailed presentation about the dispensary’s humanitarian work and the services it provides on the various health and psychological sides in order to support the neediest people and accompany them amidst the difficult living circumstances that Lebanon is passing through. Hallak also highlighted the deteriorating health conditions that the Lebanese people are suffering from due to the difficulties surrounding the health sector, explaining as well the challenges that the dispensary is facing.

Moreover, the attendees discussed how to enhance cooperation in order to secure the urgent humanitarian needs. They also exchanged point of views and experiences with the aim to develop future programs to support the affected people due the living crises. As well as, the visiting delegation watched videos about the Service and Relief - Diakonia Department’s work and the programs it implements in Lebanon.

Following the dispensary’s visit, the Global Ministries delegation, accompanied by the MECC team, visited the beneficiaries of the Business Rehabilitation Program implemented by the Service and Relief – Diakonia Department, Lebanon’ office, in Beirut, after the August 4 Blast, aiming at helping these business’ owners to restore life to their damaged investments.
