A Delegation from Church of Sweden Visiting MECC in Beirut
Towards Strengthening the Partnership Between Both Sides
Within the framework of strengthening the partnership between Church of Sweden which is a member in ACT Alliance, and the Middle East Council of Churches, a delegation from the Church visited the offices of the MECC General Secretariat in Beirut, on Monday 8 May 2023. The delegation included Mrs. Anna Levine, Church of Sweden Programs Manager for the Middle East Unit, Mrs. Jessica Lendbergdik, Regional Representative of ACT Church of Sweden on the Development Programs for the Middle East and North Africa, and Mrs. Rania Salameh, Regional Representative of ACT Church of Sweden on the Humanitarian Programs for the Middle East and North Africa.
The delegation was received by the MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, along with the MECC Associate Secretary General Mrs. Seta Hadeshian, and the Director of the MECC Theological and Ecumenical Department Father Dr. Antoine Al Ahmar.
During the meeting, the attendees discussed about the strategic mechanisms and future programs that Church of Sweden plans to implement in the Middle East. They also shared point of views and experiences in order to strengthen the partnership between both sides, talking about the activities that Church of Sweden will implement with the Middle East Council of Churches in the next phase which will start in 2025.
In addition, the attendees discussed how to develop various types of programs between Church of Sweden and MECC, especially the programs related to theology and youth, based on Church of Sweden’s policies, in order to achieve the desired goals in the region.
