A Delegation of German Tourists Visits the MECC Headquarters in Beirut

As part of its religious tour in Lebanon, a delegation of German tourists visited the offices of the Middle East Council of Churches’ General Secretariat in Beirut, on Thursday 27 April 2023. The delegation was received by the MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, along with the Associate Secretary General Mrs. Seta Hadeshian, and the Programming Assistant at the Theological and Ecumenical Department Mrs. Rima Saleh.

During the meeting, the Secretary General Dr. Abs made a presentation and an analysis of the situation in Lebanon and the region. He also presented an overview about the MECC mission and its Ecumenical and Humanitarian work. Moreover, he highlighted the most important programs that the Council is working to implement in various countries of the Middle East in order to achieve the desired goals. Furthermore, Dr. Abs underlined the challenges that the Churches in the region are facing, especially in securing the urgent needs of their people.

The attendees also discussed the difficult circumstances which the Middle East is passing through due to the economic, social and health crises... which are worsening as a result of local and international events and the Syrian refugee crisis... which casts a shadow over the country.

It should be noted that the German delegation is also visiting the Christian and Islamic religious leaders in Lebanon in order to learn more about the traditions of the religions in Lebanon, in addition to their heritage and thought.
