His Beatitude Patriarch Raphaël Bedros XXI Minassian Presides Over the Divine Liturgy
On commemoration of the Armenian Genocide
The MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs Participates in the Service
In commemoration of the Armenian Genocide, His Beatitude Patriarch Raphaël Bedros XXI Minassian, Catholicos of the Armenian Catholic Church of Cilicia, and President of the Middle East Council of Churches for the Catholic Family, presided over a Divine Liturgy on Monday 24 April 2023, at Saint-Grégoire School in Achrafieh, Lebanon.
His Beatitude was assisted in the service by Priests and Deacons, in the presence of His Beatitude Mor Ignatius Youssef III Younan, Syriac Catholic Patriarch of Antioch, the Apostolic Nuncio to Lebanon, His Eminence Monsignor Paolo Borgia, the Latin Apostolic Vicar in Lebanon His Eminence Monsignor César Essayan, as well as Bishops from various churches.
The Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches Dr. Michel Abs and the MECC Associate Secretary General Mrs. Seta Hadeshian participated in the Mass, alongside current and former Ministers and Deputies, and representatives of the Armenian and Lebanese parties, in addition to believers.
Following a reading from the Holy Gospel, each of Monsignor Mesrob Topalian and Mr. Raphael Jawharji, from the Armenian Catholic Patriarchate, delivered a speeche for the occasion, in which they presented a historical overview of the Armenian Genocide and its painful repercussions.
At the end, a procession was held from Saint-Grégoire School to the Armenian Catholic Patriarchate in Achrafieh, where wreaths of flowers were placed in front of the Armenian Genocide statue and Prayers were raised for the intention of the martyrs.
