The Supreme Council of the Evangelical Community Holds Its Elections
MECC Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs Congratulates Reverend Joseph Kassab on His Re-election as President of the Supreme Synod
During the general meeting of the General Assembly of the Supreme Council of the Evangelical Community, which was held at its headquarters in Rabieh, Lebanon, Reverend Joseph Kassab, member of the Executive Committee of the Middle East Council of Churches, was re-elected as President of the Supreme Synod, in addition to the election of the administrative office and the Executive Committee of the Synod.
On the occasion, the Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches Dr. Michel Abs congratulates Reverend Joseph Kassab, and the members of the administrative office and the Executive Committee of the Synod. He wishes them good health and success in their mission and Church Pastoral care. Dr. Abs also prays that the Lord bless their service and grant them grace and determination in their responsibility amidst the difficult circumstances the region is passing through.

Evangelical Community Elections: Renewal of the Presidency of Reverend Joseph Kassab
The General Assembly of the Supreme Council of the Evangelical Community held its general meeting at its headquarters in Rabieh. This was in the presence of heads of member churches and their delegates from all the governorates of Syria and Lebanon. After the worship service and Prayer for the two countries and those suffering in them and a sermon from Reverend Dr. Milad Dagher, Reverend Joseph Kassab, MECC Executive Committee Member, was re-elected as President of the Supreme Synod. The administrative office and the Executive Committee were elected, consisting of: Reverend Boutros Zaour, Vice-President, Reverend Salim Sabounji, secretary, Reverend Dr. Edward Awabeda, treasurer, and Reverend Samuel Kharrat a record-taker, and MP Reverend Dr. Edgar Traboulsi, Reverend Dr. Habib Badr, MECC Honorary President and Treasurer, Reverend Archdeacon Imad Zourub, Reverend Levon Maksoudian, Reverend Joseph Najm, Reverend Andrew Salama, Reverend Ibrahim Nseir, Reverend Hrayer Goulakian, and legal advisors Judge Fawzi Dagher and Attorney Lever Bahi.
In his speech, Reverend Kassab reviewed the works done by the Supreme Synod to serve churches, schools, evangelical universities, and civil society in the two countries, in the difficult circumstances in which they are going through. The meeting discussed the tragic situation after the earthquake that hit parts of Syria, and the quick response of the churches to stand by the affected people. The attendees unanimously agreed on the position of the Presidency of the Evangelical Community in favor of stability and peace in Syria and Lebanon, and the demands for the speedy election of a president for the republic in Lebanon to regularize public affairs and to get out of the political, economic and social crises from which the Lebanese people suffer.
