MECC Former Secretary General Gabi Habib Passed Away - The Ecumenical Movement Loses One of Its Pillars
With faith and hope, the General Secretariat of the Middle East Council of Churches mourns Gabi Habib, former Secretary General, brother, father and teacher, who passed away to the Heavenly Father. Habib worked for ecumenism and made many sacrifices over 17 years in order to raise the voice of the Eastern Churches together. From the East to the world!
The world will always remember Gabi Habib, as he always worked to strengthen the MECC mission and role. History will remember him as role model for ecumenical work and an example of a loving, honest and devoted person.
Gabi Habib passed away and the ecumenical movement lost one of its most important pillars, as the family of the MECC General Secretariat. Habib was an Honorary Secretary General, expert, and supportive person. He had been jealous for the Council’s history, present and future.
On behalf of the Middle East Council of Churches and its Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, we extend our deepest condolences to the Churches of the Middle East, and its four families, to Habib’s big and small families, to his beloved wife Katy and his two daughters Maria Gabriel and Anna Sophia. May his soul rest in peace with the Lord, who redeemed us through his death.
Christ is risen.
