The sea is not a false witness
Dr. Michel E. Abs
Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches
The sea did not accept to be neither a false witness nor a dumb devil, so he informed us of all that it knows
He sent us the victims of our political, legislative and cultural violence, a lifeless people
They begged him to escape to a better tomorrow, fleeing from a society that has lost the meaning of mercy, justice and duty
But they were too weak for his requirements
They were too weak to cross their paths and go on their way, so they fell in the middle of the road
He has no fault, the sea, except that he is cruel
He has been here for thousands of years, receiving, depositing, and guiding
He guided pirates, adventurers, and conquerors
But he was unable to guide the sons of an orphan people left to the whims of time
Fate came in the face of darkness that lost the meaning of shame
How can they satisfy their hunger while people are hungry?
How can they be assured of their health when people are sick?
How can they live in homes and people are homeless?
There are people searching in the hills of garbage for the remains of a crumb of bread
Lots of homeless children on the streets
Many elderly beggars
Who cares?!
Who is concerned?!
These are the ones who told us about the sea of Tripoli
These are just the tip of the iceberg
A cold campaign of genocide has been waged against him for years
And no one hears his moan
Shame on you, what have you done to the people?
People are the children of the Creator in your hands, the treasure of history, law and values!
Have you heard of them?
You haven't heard of them, so you haven't heard of shame
Shame!
You bath with it every day and you don't know
Because you don't know shame
You know it when you know honor
Have you heard of honor?
