Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs Delivered an Invitation from H.H Pope Tawadros II to H.B Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi
The Secretary General of the Middle East Council of Churches Dr. Michel Abs headed a delegation from the MECC General Secretariat in a visit to His Beatitude Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, Patriarch of Antioch and all the East for the Maronites, today, Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at the Patriarchal edifice in Bkerki, Lebanon.
At the invitation of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, Dr. Abs asked His Beatitude to participate in the 12th General Assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches, which will be held in Egypt under the title of “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid” (Matthew 14:27), between 16 and 20 May 2022.
During the meeting, Dr. Abs highlighted to His Beatitude Cardinal Al-Rahi his visit to Egypt in preparation for the General Assembly. He also presented to His Beatitude the General Assembly’s program, the preparatory activities and the topics that will be tackled during it.
The attendees also discussed with His Beatitude the procedures of coordination between the Council and the Church institutions.
Following the invitation of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, His Beatitude Al-Rahi confirmed to the delegation his participation in the General Assembly, heading a delegation from the Maronite Church.
