The MECC General Secretariat Congratulates the Associate Secretaries General elect and Prays for Them
The Executive Committee of the Middle East Council of Churches elected Mrs. Seta Hadeshian as Associate Secretary General for the Eastern Orthodox Family and re-elected the two former Associate Secretaries General, Reverend Refaat Fikri for the Evangelical Family and Father Nicolas Bustros for the Catholic Family. The election was made during the Executive Committee meeting which was held on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 November 2022, at Notre-Dame du Puits Monastery in Bkennaya, Lebanon.
The team of the MECC General Secretariat headed by its Secretary General Dr. Michel Abs, congratulates the new Associate Secretaries General and wishes them a successful journey and a blessed service to the Lord and the Ecumenical movement. The team prayed for them on Thursday 1 December 2022, at the MECC headquarters in Beirut.
Two youth women from Jordan and Egypt participated also in the Prayer. Noting that they also participated in the Executive Committee meeting along with a group of youth representing various Churches and youth movements in the Middle East. They expressed their concerns and interests to the Heads and Leaders of Churches in the region.
The prayer included the recitation of Mary's song - Luke 1: 46-55, readings from various Church families and a Bible reading from St. Mark 10, 35-45. Then a discussion session was made, during which the attendees exchanged their expectations and aspirations from the Executive Committee meeting.
Let us pray together with one heart: “O God, let us see your Kingdom with eyes of faith. We ask You to open our eyes to the new life that You grant to everyone who believes in You. Fill us with Your Spirit, so that we follow You according to Your good plan, declaring Your love, and experiencing Your forgiveness, so that we have a role in changing the world, in the name of Christ.”
