With the MECC’s Office in Jordan: The Will of Life is Stronger
At the end of 2022, it seems that the Middle East is breathing its last breath due to the exacerbation of the economic, social and living crises... and the ME people are being exhausted due to the daily pressures. Hence, the Middle East Council of Churches is keen to preserve human dignity, and seeks to sow hope in the hearts of the exhausted people through its various humanitarian programs. MECC is trying to support the most vulnerable groups in order to empower them and convince them that the will of life is stronger.
The MECC’s office in Jordan organized several programs related to various social sectors. The Council implemented a training course on the art of sewing, which it had launched in cooperation with the Rum Orthodox Church. Participants were 20 Jordanian, Iraqi and Syrian women from the most vulnerable and affected groups due to the difficult living conditions. They learned a new skill which is sewing techniques during one month and a half. At the end of the course, each of the participants received a certificate and a kit of necessary tools and supplies for sewing.
As well as, the Jordan’s Office distributed 100 vouchers to purchase food and non-food items to 100 beneficiaries from the health and human services program. This distribution aims at supporting the beneficiaries especially following the rise in prices and the deterioration of the economic conditions.
On the other hand, the Jordan’s Office completed an elderly home care training course in cooperation with the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) in Amman, during which 20 Jordanians, Iraqis and Syrians participated in a period of 3 months. The course finished with a graduation ceremony held for the trainees at the YWCA’s headquarters, during which they received certificates of participation.
